Rawson Low began because of an article about ‘killer flies’, ‘flicker fusion rate’, and how we digest reality at 60 images per second, flies 250, killer flies 400.
Photography was my chosen medium to capture those literally imperceptible flickers, that illustrate more than we can remember. My only involvement is the subject, content, beginning, and end…an endeavour to make it more immediately real to myself.
Although the technique can be fluidly chaotic by nature, it is inherently subjugated by my actions. I continue to experiment with form and light, beyond natural light into the studio environment, using more static subjects.
