Ranjitha Chowalloor is an Indian classical dance artist from Hounslow, London. She performs and choreographs Mohiniattam, a graceful, rhythmic and feminine dance art form from Southern India, Kerala. The beauty about this art form is that it is only performed by women and celebrates the love for Lord Almighty as per the ancient context of temple dancers.
Starting at the age of 5, Ranjitha has trained various styles of Mohiniattam, but has retained the original Kalamandalam dance style, which she believes is closest to her heart. She has performed across the UK, including Diwali in Trafalgar Square and a Wembley Stadium event in honour of Prime Minister Modi of India in 2015.
In 2018, Ranjitha showcased Mohiniattam as part of JIYA Dance Festival in Portugal, which helped her to cross boundaries and make her art form known to a wider audience. Ranjitha is keen to spread the joy of dancing by reaching out to young aspiring dance artists across the UK.
