During Summer 2025, CPP Hounslow were commissioned by Hounslow Council to deliver an inclusive community engagement project to capture residents’ creative expression of their vision of what the borough could look like in 2050.
The project resulted in three workshops, led by local artists, to capture creative responses from residents. In response to the conversations and artwork created, three artworks were produced by the artists themselves.
Both residents’ work and the artist’s responses have since been transformed into data and insight by Hounslow council to feed into their Vision 2050 report, guiding strategic goals over the next 25 years.
We asked Hounslow: ‘What will the borough look and feel like in 2050?’
In particular, we explored a few themes –
Health: including travel, food, physical and mental wellbeing and services
Living: including housing, cost of living, transport
Green and clean: including green spaces, parks, access, climate resilience, renewable energy, circular waste, air quality and litter
‘Thriving’: including jobs, culture, businesses and the high street, skills
Safety: including crime and technology
The desire for a green borough came through very strongly with residents looking for clean, green spaces that are accessible and diverse. There was also interest in improved transport and connection and spaces to meet and connect, particularly for young people.
Who took part?
The project aimed to reach a representative sample of Hounslow through popping up at three different events:

- Sunday 13th July: Heston Community Garden
This event celebrated CPP Hounslow’s visual arts project exploring Hounslow’s Food Markets and food culture. The event took place at Heston Action Group’s Community Garden, with a workshop led by artist Lalita Bailey.
- Sunday 27th July: Middlesex Pride at Gunnersbury Park
Artist Alexis Parinas led a workshop at Middlesex Pride, a welcoming, family event held in Gunnersbury Park. In response to the conversations and themes that came up, Alexis produced a short animation.

- Saturday 2nd August: Feltham Fete at Feltham Assembly Hall and Park
At this community event led by Feltham Local Arts Group, artist Yukiko Munemoto supported participants from a range of ages to share their visions through stitching and drawing on fabric which she brought together into a collaboratively tapestry.
